LOW BACK PAIN

Back Pain Relief with Integrated Therapies

Living with back pain can be exhausting, whether it’s just sitting at your desk, bending to pick something up, or enjoying your favorite activities, dealing with pain exhausts the nervous system and your Qi stores. At my healing studio, I take a whole-body approach to relieving discomfort and restoring ease, combining time-tested wisdom with modern technology.

How I Support Back Pain

Acupuncture
Acupuncture helps reduce inflammation, release muscle tension, and encourage the body’s natural healing response. Fine, sterile needles target points along meridian pathways, improving circulation and easing pain.

Electro-Acupuncture
By adding a gentle current to acupuncture points, electro-acupuncture enhances pain relief, supports tight or injured muscles, and promotes faster recovery.

Red Light Therapy
Red and near-infrared light penetrate deeply into tissues, stimulating cellular repair, improving blood flow, and easing stiffness. It’s soothing and non-invasive, perfect for chronic or acute discomfort.

Cupping Therapy
Using light suction, cupping encourages fresh blood flow, releases and hydrates fascia, resolves muscle tension, and helps remove metabolic waste that may be contributing to soreness and mobility issues.

Topical Herbal Analgesics
Soothing herbal liniments and salves may be applied after treatment to calm inflammation, improve circulation, and maintain comfort between sessions.

Yoga, Infrared Heat & Moxibustion
Gentle yoga postures and stretches, paired with the warmth of infrared heat and moxibustion, promote flexibility, calm the nervous system, and support long-term spinal health.

What to Expect

Each session begins with an assessment of your pain pattern, posture, and lifestyle. I then create a personalized plan drawing from these therapies to meet your needs. Whether you’re dealing with tension from sitting too much, a recent injury, or a long-standing condition, my approach meets you where you are.

Many clients notice relief after their initial visit, with deeper, lasting change developing as we address the root causes and strengthen your body’s resilience.

Evidence-Based Results

Acupuncture is supported by a strong body of research for easing low back pain, especially when combined with movement and other gentle therapies.

  • A large Cochrane Review found that acupuncture can reduce pain and improve function for people with chronic low back pain, especially compared with no treatment or standard care alone
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2020

  • The American College of Physicians & American Academy of Family Physicians recommend acupuncture as a first-line, non-drug option for both acute and chronic low back pain
    ACP/AAFP Clinical Guideline

  • A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials showed that acupuncture provided clinically meaningful pain relief and improved mobility compared with usual care, with very few side effects
→ Vickers et al., BMJ, 2018

  • For acute and sub-acute back pain, studies suggest acupuncture may be as effective as NSAIDs for pain relief, with a better safety profile
Lee et al., Pain Physician, 2013

Together, these studies support acupuncture as a safe, effective option to relieve low back pain and restore comfort — particularly when paired with posture work, stretching, or core-strengthening exercises.
