Who We Are
Founded by Laura Kauffmann, the practice blends the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine with three decades of experience in integrative and alternative healthcare. Laura’s approach is thoughtful and personalized, drawing from a broad clinical toolkit that includes Traditional Chinese and Japanese style acupuncture, applied channel theory, and refined palpation techniques influenced by her teacher, Dr. Wang Ju-Yi.
Each session is designed to support the whole person and integrates acupuncture and Chinese medicine philosophy with health coaching.
Facial rejuvenation from a longevity perspective is one of Laura’s passion projects. Cosmetic acupuncture, micro-needling and facial gua sha offer natural alternatives to Botox, fillers and retinoids for those wanting a natural and vibrant glow that stands the test of time. Facial treatments are all grounded in Chinese medicine and offer a two-fold method to treating the skin from the inside out.
At LK Mind Body Wellness, the goal is simple: to help you restore balance, support your nervous system, and feel more at home in your body through the time-tested principles of East Asian medicine and modern integrative care.
What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the foundational pillars in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and involves inserting ultra-thin, sterile needles into precise points along the body’s meridian channel system to encourage the smooth flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”). When Qi is blocked, deficient, or out-of-balance, symptoms like pain, fatigue, gas and bloating, hot flashes, insomnia, rashes, etc. can emerge. Acupuncture restores the body’s balance, emotionally, energetically or physiologically.
In a modern clinical terms, acupuncture can help regulate our nervous system, boost circulation, modulate pain and detox pathways to help your body’s regulatory systems perform better.
At LK Mind Body Wellness, I often integrate the following tools to enhance outcomes:
Electro-acupuncture (gentle electrical stimulation through needles) for chronic pain, nerve or musculoskeletal issues
Moxibustion (heat therapy) and Infrared and Red Light Therapy, to reduce inflammation, boost immune system, and tackle aging complaints
Cupping, Gua Sha and Lymphatic Drainage for pain relief and reduction of puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles
Breath-work, Yin Yoga, and Holistic Health Coaching for nervous system resilience

What To Expect
At your first visit, your comfort and clarity are top priorities. Here’s the flow you’ll encounter in your first session:
Intake & Assessment — We’ll review your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and goals.
Treatment Plan Creation — Based on your intake, I’ll design a plan with recommended frequency and additional modalities (if needed).
Acupuncture Treatment — You’ll relax in my calming treatment space while I apply the needles (typically 20–30 minutes, but timed to your body’s healing rhythm).
Supportive Modalities & After-care — I may integrate cupping, moxibustion or bodywork, and give you targeted home-instructions (Yin yoga, breath-work, dietary suggestions) to deepen your results.
Follow-Up & Adjustment — We’ll monitor progress and refine the plan together, so you keep moving forward in your healing journey.
Pro Tip: Wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing (shorts and a t-shirt work great) and arrive about 5 minutes early so we can begin on time.
